Early Life

Lando Norris was born on November 13, 1999, in Bristol, England, United Kingdom. Lando's father, Adam, a retired pensions manager, is one of the wealthiest people in Bristol, and as of 2018, he was the 501st-richest person in England. Norris' mother, Cisca, is from Belgium. Lando holds dual citizenship between England and Belgium, and he has two younger sisters, Cisca and Flo, and an older brother named Oliver who competed in karting until 2014. As a child, Norris tried horse riding, motorcycle riding, and quad biking, and when he was 7 years old, his father took him to the British Karting Championships, sparking Lando's interest in the sport. Norris attended Somerset's Millfield School, and though he left before taking his GCSEs, he studied math and physics with a full-time tutor. His family moved to Glastonbury so Lando could pursue a racing career, and he lived near the McLaren headquarters before moving to Monaco in 2022.

Career

Norris' karting career began at the age of 7, and when he competed in his first national event, he claimed pole position. He competed in KF-Junior karting in 2013 and won the CIK FIA European Championship, WSK Euro Series, and International Super Cup. Lando won the 2014 CIK-FIA KF World Championship, becoming the youngest karting world champion. His car racing debut took place at the 2014 Ginetta Junior Championship, and he finished in third place and received the Rookie Cup. After signing with Carlin Motorsport, Norris won the 2015 MSA Formula Championship, and in 2016, he won the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault 2.0 NEC with Josef Kaufmann Racing and the Toyota Racing Series with M2 Competition. With Carlin, Lando won the 2017 FIA Formula 3 European Championship and came in second at the 2017 Macau Grand Prix and 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship.

In February 2017, Norris signed with McLaren Racing Limited as a junior driver, and he officially became a McLaren test and reserve driver at the end of the year. As a member of the McLaren F1 Team, Lando finished in the top 10 in 11 races in 2019 and finished in 11th place in the 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship. In 2020, he finished third in the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, fourth in the Italian Grand Prix and Bahrain Grand Prix, fifth in the Styrian Grand Prix, British Grand Prix, and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and ninth in the FIA Formula One World Championship. In 2021, Norris finished in sixth place in the FIA Formula One World Championship after placing in the top five in 10 races that year. In 2022, he finished third in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, fourth in the Singapore Grand Prix, and seventh in the FIA Formula One World Championship. In July 2023, Lando was runner-up in the British Grand Prix. Norris also competed in the 2018 24 Hours of Daytona (part of the IMSA SportsCar Championship) with United Autosports, and his team finished in 13th place in their class. He competed in the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual as well, racing for Team Redline in the LMP2 class. His team finished 25th due to his teammate Max Verstappen having technical problems and crashing.

Personal Life

Lando dated model Luisinha Oliveira from August 2021 to September 2022. He has said that he and Oliveira received death threats and abuse from internet trolls, telling "The Sun" in 2022, "Whether it's about my personal life, me and my girlfriend, especially the amount of hate pages dedicated to Luisinha now. It is pretty horrific." Norris added, "What I find the funniest in a way is people are actually spending their one life on Earth just sat behind a computer trying to ruin and bully someone. When people are creating fake pages and fake chats, and fake WhatsApp messages, then I am like, 'You're actually spending your life doing that?' They're wasting their life." In July 2021, Lando was mugged outside Wembley Stadium after attending the Euro final. The two muggers stole Norris' £40,000 watch.

In March 2020, Lando raised $12,000 for the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund after promising to shave his head if his fans donated at least $10,000. During a 2021 interview on ITV's "This Morning," Norris spoke about dealing with depression as a Formula One rookie. He stated, "What's the outcome of all of this? Am I going to be in Formula One next year, if I'm not? What am I going to do because I'm not really good at many other things in life? So, just all of that, and then just feeling depressed a lot of the time that if I have a bad weekend, I just think I'm not good enough and things like that." Lando said that talking to his friends and McLaren helped him, as did working with the mental health organization Mind.

Awards

At the "Autosport" Awards, Norris was named British Club Driver of the Year in 2016, National Driver of the Year in 2017, and British Competition Driver of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2021. He also won the McLaren "Autosport" BRDC Award in 2016.

Under his latest contract signed with McLaren in 2022, Oscar earns a relatively paltry $775,000 in base salary per year. By comparison, his teammate Lando Norris earned approximately $30 million in the same period from McLaren.

What is Kyle Petty's net worth?

Kyle Petty is an American former NASCAR driver who has a net worth of $20 million. Kyle Petty earned an estimated $32 million during his racing career. This includes his winnings from races, sponsorships, and other earnings. He is the son of NASCAR legend Richard Petty and grandson of Lee Petty, both of whom were also successful NASCAR drivers.

Born into a racing family, he was around cars from a very young age. He made his major league debut just after graduating from high school, winning his first race. Throughout his early career, he raced in his father and grandfather's hand-me-down cars, amassing a series of respectable finishes. In 1985, he secured sponsorship from 7-Eleven and began racing for Wood Brothers Racing. He immediately began to climb the stock car ranks. Over the next 30 years, Kyle had 8 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins, 173 Top Tens, and 8 poles. He finished fifth in the nation in 1992 and 1993. After officially retiring in 2008, he began a career as a color commentator, and currently serves as a co-host for "NASCAR RaceDay" and "NASCAR Trackside" on SPEED.

Early Life

Petty was born on June 2, 1960 in Randleman, North Carolina to parents Richard Petty and Lynda Owens. He grew up with his three brothers and sisters in North Carolina. He was around racing all of his life, as his father was a professional NASCAR racer, as was his grandfather, Lee Petty. As a child, he grew up racing and made his major-league stock car debut at the age of 18.

Career

Petty won the 1979 Daytona ARCA 200, the first professional race he entered in 1979. He became the youngest driver to win a major-league stock car race. Later in the season, he made his Winston Cup Series debut. At the 1979 Talladega 500, he finished in ninth. In 1980, he made a total of fifteen starts in the Dodge Magnum number 42 car, the same number used by his grandfather, Lee Petty. He began the 1981 season driving his father's number 43 car but ultimately returned to racing in the number 42. However, he switched to the number 7 in 1983 after he picked up funding from 7-Eleven.

By 1985, he had taken his sponsorship to Wood Brothers Racing. There, he had seven top-five finishes and his first top-ten points finish. In 1986, he won his first career race in the 1986 Miller High Life 400. Throughout the rest of the 1980s, he continued picking up various sponsorships but then had a scare when he broke his leg in a crash in the 1991 Winston 500. He then missed the next eleven races while he healed.

By 1992, Petty rebounded to a career-best fifth place finish in points and won two separate races – Watkins Glen and Rockingham. He came very close to winning the championship in 1992 but suffered a flat tire at Phoenix, the second to last race, and broke an engine during the season's last race. In 1993, he won the Champion Spark Plug at Pocono and duplicated his high-points finish. However, the following year, he failed to finish higher than fourth in any race and lost some sponsorships as a result.

Coors Light became his new sponsor in 1995 and Petty won his final career cup race in the Miller Genuine Draft 500 at Dover. However, he continued falling down the points ranking after only finishing in the top-ten five times and then failing to qualify for the fall race at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

Beginning in the 1997 season, Petty formed his own team, PE2. He had two top-five finishes and nine top-ten finishes. He returned to this family's company in 1998 and ran his team from their headquarters. He also became the Petty Enterprises' new CEO. Around this time, he had begun providing guest commentary for races at ESPN. Over the next few years, he continued racing but did not achieve the success he had once experienced. At the 2007 Coca-Cola 600, he had his first top-five finish in ten years.

He then took a few races off in order to work as a commentator for TNT. Early in 2008, Petty Enterprises was purchased by Boston Ventures and Petty stepped aside as the team's CEO. He continued broadcasting and participated in fewer and fewer races. His final race came in 2008 at the Phoenix International Raceway where he was caught in a multi-car crash.

Throughout the 2010s, Petty appeared on various Fox Sports shows. Since 2015, he has worked for NBC Sports, appearing on all of their NASCAR related shows and broadcasts.

Outside of racing, Petty also briefly attempted a career as a professional country musician. He signed a record contract with RCA Records in 1986 and began to work on an album with Don Light. During this period, he released a single called "The Other Guy" and performed as an opening act for musicians like Randy Travis and The Oak Ridge Boys. However, due to disagreements with his record company and management, he abandoned the idea to produce an album. In 1995, he recorded a track called "Oh King Richard" that was a tribute to his father, Richard, and released as part of a NASCAR-themed country music compilation album. A music video for the song was also released that featured Perry playing an acoustic guitar in front of his father's former racecar. In 2017, Petty also provided the voice for a character in "Cars 3."

Personal Life

Petty has been married twice. He married Pattie Petty in 1979. They divorced in 2012.

In 2015, he married Morgan Petty.

He has seven children – Adam, Austin, Montgomery, Overton, Cotton, and Davent.

Petty is active in a number of charitable causes. He has been involved with Victory Junction, a facility that serves serious illness and chronic medical conditions in children. He established Victory Junction to honor his late son, Adam, who had also been a professional racer. Adam had died during a practice racing session in 2000 when his car hit a wall and killed him instantly at the age of 19.

Real Estate

In March 2016, Kyle and his ex-wife Pattie listed a 380-acre estate they co-owned in Trinity, North Carolina called Adaumont Farm. They listed the property for $5.5 million. In addition to a lakefront mansion, the property features a 25,000 square foot barn/event/equestrian center. They sold the property in June 2016 for $5.3 million. Today the farm is also rented out as a wedding venue.

In 2001 Kyle built a beachfront home in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. He listed this home for sale about a decade later for $4.5 million, ultimately accepting $3.85 million.

What was Stirling Moss' Net Worth?

Stirling Moss was a British Formula One racing driver who had a net worth of $20 million at the time of his death. Stirling Moss has been referred to as the "greatest driver never to win the Formula One World Championship." During a seven-year span between 1955 and 1961, Moss finished in second place four times and third place three times.

Early Life

Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss was born on September 17, 1929, in West Kensington in London, England, to amateur racing drivers Alfred and Aileen Moss. Stirling and his younger sister, Pat, grew up as gifted horse riders, and she went on to become a successful rally driver. Stirling attended Shrewsbury House School, Clewer Manor Junior School, and Haileybury and Imperial Service College where he did not get good grades. He was often bullied for his Jewish roots and disliked school in general. At nine years old, Moss received his first car, an Austin 7, from his father and drove it around the fields. He got his license at 15 and then purchased his own vehicle.

Racing Career

Stirling Moss competed from 1948 to 1962 in 529 races and was part of teams for Mercedes-Benz, Vanwall, Maserati, Lotus, Rob Walker Cooper, and HWM. Moss had 212 wins during his career and set several speed records. Moss competed in as many as 62 races in one year and drove 84 different makes of cars over the course of his career. But he always drove British cars. "It is better to lose honorably in a British car than to win in a foreign one," he would say. His record of 16 Formula One Grands Prix victories stood until 1991 when Nigel Mansell overtook him.

Stirling Moss was also a color commentator for Wide World of Sports on ABC. British police officers have been known to use the line "Who do you think you are, Stirling Moss?" when pulling over speeding motorists.

Getty Images

He made a comeback to racing to compete in the 1974 London-Sahara-Munich World Cup Rally. He returned to regular competition in 1980 in the British Saloon Car Championship with Audi. And in June 2011 during qualifying for the Le Mans Legends race, Moss announced on Radio Le Mans that he was finally retiring from racing for good after scaring himself that afternoon. Dave Mirra was an American BMX rider, rally car driver, and businessman who had a net worth of $15 million at the time of his death in 2016. At one point during his career, Dave Mirra held the record for winning the highest number of X Games medals, but his record was broken by skateboarder Bob Burnquist in 2013. Dave also held the honor of medaling in each X Games from 1995 to 2009, minus 2006 (due to injury).

Over the course of his BMX career, Mirra won 14 gold medals, six silver medals, and four bronze medals at the Summer X Games. He was sponsored by Haro bikes for many years, and he eventually started his own bike company, MirraCo, in 2007. Dave hosted the MTV series "Real World/Road Rules Challenge" from 2004 to 2005, and he guest-starred on "Las Vegas" and "George Lopez" in 2004. Mirra was featured in multiple video games, including the "Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX" series, and he appeared on television shows such as "The New Tom Green Show," "Punk'd," "Late Show with David Letterman," and "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory." He had sponsorship deals with GT Bicycles, Recarco, Monster Energy, Nike, Puma, Maxxis Tires, Bell helmets, Subaru, and Snafu, and he was noted for riding a gold plated bicycle in the 2005 X Games that was reportedly worth $7500.

After retiring from BMX riding in 2011, Dave took up rallycross racing. Mirra won an ESPY Award for Best Male Action Sports Athlete in 2005, and he was posthumously inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame in 2016. Tragically, Dave died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on February 4, 2016, at the age of 41.

Early Life

Dave Mirra was born David Michael Mirra on April 4, 1974, in Chittenango, New York. Dave was a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. After his brother, Tim, enrolled at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, in the '90s, Dave moved to the city as well. Tim's roommate was Ryan Nyquist, a professional BMX rider who went on to win more than a dozen medals (four of them gold) at the Summer X Games. Mirra and Nyquist became friends and began building ramps together. Greenville eventually became the home of more than 20 professional BMX riders, earning it the nickname "Protown" among the BMX community.

Career

In 1987, 13-year-old Dave became a member of the Haro Bikes BMX team, and the following year, he was featured in videos by producers Plywood Hoods. In 1989, he entered into a sponsorship with Vision Street Wear, and in the '90s, he was sponsored by GT Bicycles, followed by Hoffman Bikes, and a return to Haro Bikes. In 1992, Mirra turned professional. He won a silver medal in the BMX Vert at the 1995 Summer X Games, and he won his first gold medal in the BMX Park in 1996. That year he also won a silver medal in the BMX Vert. In 1997, 1998, and 1999, he won gold medals in the BMX Park and BMX Vert, and he also took home a gold medal in the BMX Vert Doubles in 1998. In 1999, he won a gold medal in the BMX Park at the Gravity Games as well. At the 2000 X Games, Dave won a gold medal in the BMX Park and a silver medal in the BMX Vert, and in 2001 and 2002, he won gold medals in the BMX Vert. In 2003, he won a silver medal in the BMX Vert and a bronze medal in the BMX Park, then he returned to winning gold medals in 2004, for both the BMX Park and BMX Vert. Mirra won a gold medal in the BMX Park and a silver medal in the BMX Vert – Best Trick at the 2005 X Games, and in 2006, he had to sit the games out due to suffering an injury during a practice run.

Dave returned to the X Games in 2007, winning a bronze medal in the BMX Park, then he won a silver medal in the BMX Big Air and a bronze medal in RCR Racing in 2008 and a bronze medal in the BMX Big Air in 2009. In 2011, Mirra retired from BMX riding. From 2008 to 2013, he was a member of the Subaru Rally Team USA, and at the 2013 Global RallyCross Championship, he finished in fourth place, a career best. He also took part in Ironman competitions, and he participated in his first triathlon in 2013 and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2014. In 2003, he published the book "Mirra Images," which "captures all of Dave's most daring and explosive tricks — carving flairs, wallride-to-tailwhips, and his record-setting nineteen-foot air — in stunning color." In 2004, Mirra was named one of "People" magazine's "50 Hottest Bachelors." In the mid-2000s, he entered into an endorsement deal with DC Shoes after he left Adidas, and he launched his own bike company, MirraCo, in 2007.

Personal Life

Dave married Lauren Blackwell on February 18, 2006, and they remained together until his death in 2016. The couple welcomed two daughters together, Madison and Mackenzie. In March 2010, Mirra became ill with bacterial meningitis, and he fully recovered before he returned to rally racing.

Death

Dave Mirra died of a gunshot wound to the head on February 4, 2016. He was 41 at the time of his death, and police reportedly found him "sitting in a truck with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."

Greenville Mayor Allen M. Thomas released a statement about Dave's death, writing:

"We mourn the loss today of a great friend and wonderful human being who touched the lives of so many around the world with his gift. He called Greenville, North Carolina, home and was as humble a guy talking with kids on a street corner about bikes as he was in his element on the world stage."

After his death, it was discovered that Mirra had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). He had suffered several concussions during his career, and at the age of 19, his skull was fractured when he was struck by a car. Dave was the first action sports star to receive a CTE diagnosis. Mirra's widow has supported numerous charities in Dave's memory, such as the Road 2 Recovery Foundation and CTE research organizations. In 2019, it was announced that Greenville city officials were working on a plan to "create an action sports park to bolster local BMX and skateboarding communities, increase tourism and honor the legacy of Dave Mirra."

What is Sergio Perez's Net Worth?

Sergio Perez is a Mexican racing driver who has a net worth of $50 million. Sergio Pérez, AKA "Checo," has earned his net worth racing for Sauber, McLaren, Force India, Racing Point, and in Formula One for Red Bull Racing.

Early Life

Sergio Michel "Checo" Perez Mendoza was born on January 26, 1990, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. His father Antonio raced cars before managing the career of Indycar and sportscar driver, Adrián Fernández. Sergio began karting at the age of six, and in his first year of competition, achieved four victories in the junior category. In 1997, he participated in the karting Youth Class in which he was the youngest driver but earned a win, five podium finishes, and a fourth-place finish in the championship. At 14 years of age, he moved up into single-seater cars, competing in the US-based Skip Barber National Championship with the backing of Mexican business magnate Carlos Slim's Escuderia Telmex.

Early Career

In 2005, Sergio Perez moved to Europe to compete in Formula BMW, spending four months living in a restaurant owned by his team boss. At the age of 17, he relocated to Oxford for the beginning of a two-year campaign in British Formula 3. Perez won the National Class (for older chassis) in 2007 and finished fourth in the International Class in 2008, graduating to the Formula 1 feeder series GP2 via the GP2 Asia Series; he claimed a lights-to-flag victory in his very first race in Bahrain. In only his second year in GP2, Sergio won races at Monaco, Silverstone, Hockenheim, Spa-Francorchamps and Abu Dhabi, ultimately finishing runner-up to Pastor Maldonado.

Both drivers then graduated to Formula 1, and in doing so Sergio became the first Mexican to compete in the World Championship since Héctor Rebaque in 1981. Perez's F1 debut in 2011 yielded a points finish for the Sauber team, and he rapidly established a reputation as a fierce competitor, even challenging Fernando Alonso's Ferrari for the lead in the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2012 and running at the front at Monza.

"The Mexican Wunderkind" joined McLaren in 2013, but he did not earn a single podium finish. The team then decided to replace Sergio with Kevin Magnussen. In 2014, Force India signed Perez to a $16.5 million contract. He remained with the team until they went into administration in 2018 and reformed as the Racing Point team for 2019. Racing Point then signed Sergio to a three-year extension in 2019. But in 2020, Racing Point announced Perez would leave the team at the end of the season with Sebastian Vettel, a four-time F1 world champion, replacing him.

Perez won his first Formula One Grand Prix at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix breaking the record for the number of starts before a race win at 190. In 2022, he earned his first Formula One pole position at the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix breaking the record for most races before a first pole position at 215.

In 2021, Sergio Perez signed with Red Bull Racing. And shortly after his win in Monaco in May, it was announced Perez would stay with the team throughout the 2024 season.

Perez's helmet design is based on a Mexican flag and it changes every season.
