What is Billy Squier's Net Worth?

Billy Squier is an American rock musician, singer, and songwriter who has a net worth of $80 million. Billy Squier is best known for the 1981 single "The Stroke," which was ranked #59 on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs." Arguably more important to his net worth, Billy is considered one of, if not THE, most sampled artists in hip-hop history. His 1981 song "The Stroke" was sampled for Eminem's song "Berserk" and his 1980 song "The Big Beat" has been sampled dozens of times, notably for Jay-Z's "99 Problems." Billy reportedly demands the as much as 75% of all royalties generated by the sample song and he has undoubtedly earned tens of millions of dollars in royalties over the years through these arrangements. His song catalog is easily worth $50 million.

Billy has released the studio albums "The Tale of the Tape" (1980), "Don't Say No" (1981), "Emotions in Motion" (1982), "Signs of Life" (1984), "Enough Is Enough" (1986), "Hear & Now" (1989), "Creatures of Habit" (1991), "Tell the Truth" (1993), and "Happy Blue" (1998), and three of those albums were certified Platinum or higher in the U.S. Squier is known for singles such as "Lonely Is the Night," "My Kinda Lover," "Everybody Wants You," and "Rock Me Tonite," and both "Everybody Wants You" and "Rock Me Tonite" reached #1 on the "Billboard" Mainstream Rock chart.

Early Life

Billy Squier was born William Haislip Squier on May 12, 1950, in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Billy graduated from Wellesley High School in 1968, and during his youth, he learned how to play guitar and piano. He didn't become seriously interested in music until he discovered John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers (when Eric Clapton was in the band). Squier formed the band the Reltneys at the age of 14, and he first performed publicly in 1968 at the Boston nightclub the Psychedelic Supermarket, where he once saw Eric Clapton play with the band Cream. After deciding to take music more seriously, Billy and a friend from school started the band Magic Terry & the Universe in New York. In 1971, Squier briefly studied at Boston's Berklee College of Music. He initially wanted to pursue a teaching career, but he went back to New York to play with a pop group called the Sidewinders instead.

Career

In the mid-1970s, Billy signed a record deal while he was a member of the band Piper, and the group released the studio albums "Piper" and "Can't Wait." "Circus" magazine called the band's self-titled album "the greatest debut album ever produced by a US rock band." Piper opened for Kiss during the band's 1977 tour. After Piper split up, Squier signed with Capitol Records as a solo artist in 1979. He released his debut solo album, "The Tale of the Tape," in May 1980, and it reached #169 on the "Billboard" 200 chart. Billy's follow-up, 1981's "Don't Say No," reached #5 on the "Billboard" 200 chart and #4 on Canada's "RPM" chart, and it was certified 3× Platinum in the U.S. and Platinum in Canada. The album featured the singles "The Stroke," "In the Dark," "Lonely Is the Night," and "My Kinda Lover," and "The Stroke" and "In the Dark" were both top 10 hits on the "Billboard" Mainstream Rock chart. Squier's third solo album, "Emotions in Motion," was released in 1982, and it reached #5 on the "Billboard" 200 chart and #8 on Canada's "RPM" chart. The album went 2× Platinum in the U.S. and Platinum in Canada, and the single "Everybody Wants You" topped the "Billboard" Mainstream Rock chart. Next, he released the 1984 album "Signs of Life," which peaked at #11 on the "Billboard" 200 chart and was certified Platinum in the U.S. and Gold in Canada. The album included the singles "Rock Me Tonite," "All Night Long," "Can't Get Next to You," and "Eye on You," and "Rock Me Tonite" reached #1 on the "Billboard" Mainstream Rock chart.

In 1985, Squier's song "Shake Down" was featured on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for "St. Elmo's Fire." The following year, he released the album "Enough Is Enough," which reached #61 on the "Billboard" 200 chart. Freddie Mercury performed backing vocals on the single "Love Is the Hero," and he co-wrote the track "Lady With a Tenor Sax." Billy's 1989 album "Hear & Now" peaked at #64 on the "Billboard" 200 chart, and 1991's "Creatures of Habit" reached #117 on that chart. "Don't Say You Love Me" from " Hear & Now" and "She Goes Down" from "Creatures of Habit" both reached #4 on the "Billboard" Mainstream Rock chart.

After releasing 1993's "Tell the Truth," Squier left Capitol Records. His ninth solo album, "Happy Blue," was released on the independent label J-Bird Records, in 1998. As of this writing, Billy has not released another album since "Happy Blue," but in February 2023, he shared a clip of a new song titled "Molly," and the full track was later released under the title "Harder On A Woman." IMDb lists more than 100 soundtrack credits for Squier, including "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (1982), "Billy Madison" (1995), "Scary Movie" (2000), "Blades of Glory" (2006), "Let's Go to Prison" (2006), "Couples Retreat" (2009), "ParaNorman" (2012), "We're the Millers" (2013), and "Girls Trip" (2017).

Hip Hop Sampling

Perhaps most importantly to his net worth, Billy Squier is one of the most-sampled musicians by hip-hop artists. Rick Rubin sampled his song "The Big Beat" for Jay-Z's "99 Problems" and "The Stroke" for Eminem's song "Berzerk."

Run DMC sampled "The Big Beat" for 1983's "Here We Go (Live at the Funhouse)."

Mickey Avalon sampled "The Stroke" for his 2009 song "Stroke Me." He would later reveal that Billy requested and received 75% of the song's royalties. Below is a list of "The Big Beat" sample tracks:

The Big Beat samples:

  • Jay-Z, "99 Problems"
  • Kanye West and Pusha T, "Looking for Trouble"
  • Dizzee Rascal, "Fix Up, Look Sharp"
  • Nas feat. Will.i.am, "Hip Hop is Dead"
  • Puff Daddy, "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down"
  • A Tribe Called Quest, "We Can Get Down"
  • Big Daddy Kane, "Put Your Weight On It," "Get Down," "Ain't No Half Steppin," "The Beef Is On," and "3 Forties and a Bottle of Moet"
  • Ice Cube, "Jackin' for Beats"
  • Alicia Keys, "Girl on Fire"
  • Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, "Magic Carpet Ride"
  • Run-D.M.C, "Here We Go"

The Stroke samples:

  • Eminem, "Berserk"
  • Mickey Avalon, "Stroke Me"
  • Company Flow, "Wurker Ant Uprise"
  • Grandwizzard Johnny O and the Mighty Sorcerer Crew, "When It Breaks"

Personal Life

Billy married professional soccer player Nicole Schoen in 2002. In a 2000 "New York Post" article, Squier spoke about his volunteer work with the Central Park Conservancy, stating, "I much prefer the company of nature to the poison of the business community. When money enters the aesthetic, it changes the perspective on it all." In 2009, Billy told the Michigan publication "Northern Express," "I am a big supporter of conservancy efforts and I volunteer for the Central Park Conservancy where I am responsible for the care of 20 acres of the park. He added, "I love landscaping and gardening, so this has been very rewarding. I think as a performer, or for that matter regardless of your profession, it is important to discover things outside of your profession that help you learn about who you are as a person."

Bono Apartment Battle

For over 30 years Billy has lived in an ultra-exclusive New York City building called the San Remo. Over the years celebrity residents have included Bono, Steve Martin, Steve Jobs, Steven Spielberg and Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. In 2015, Demi listed her 7,000 square foot South Tower penthouse for $75 million. She and Bruce bought the unit in 1990 when they were married, she retained it in the divorce. She ultimately accepted $45 million in 2017.

Bono bought his unit from Steve Jobs in 2003 for $14.5 million. Soon after moving in, Bono noticed that smoke from the lower unit fireplaces was billowing into his penthouse. Of the 135 units in the San Remo, only 40 have fireplaces. After Bono complained, the building's co-op ordered fireplace-owning residents to stop using them. Billy was one of those fireplace owners. He was livid to learn that he would no longer be able to use his fireplace. He fought the co-op and Bono vigorously, but ultimately lost.

If Billy misses his fireplace, he also owns a 1-acre property in upscale Bridgehampton on Long Island.

Award Nominations

In 1986, Squier earned a Grammy nomination for Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television for the "St. Elmo's Fire" soundtrack.

What was Jeff Hanneman's Net Worth?

Jeff Hanneman was an American musician who had a net worth of $10 million at the time of his death. Jeff Hanneman is best known as a founding member and guitarist of the thrash metal band Slayer. He also composed both music and lyrics for each of the band's albums until his passing in 2013, writing such fan-favorite tracks as "Angel of Death," "Raining Blood," "War Ensemble," and "Seasons in the Abyss." Considered one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists of all time, Hanneman had his own signature guitar created by ESP Guitars.

Early Life

Jeff Hanneman was born on January 31, 1964 in Long Beach, California into a military family. His father had fought in Normandy during World War II, and his brothers were soldiers in Vietnam. This made Hanneman incredibly interested in warfare and military history. Meanwhile, he was introduced to heavy metal music through his older sister Mary, who was listening to Black Sabbath when he was visiting her house.

Slayer

While working as a telemarketer in 1981, Hanneman met fellow guitarist Kerry King at an audition for a southern rock band called Ledger. They subsequently started jamming together. Hanneman and King – along with bassist Tom Araya and neighborhood drummer Dave Lombardo – went on to form Slayer. Originally, the band played covers of metal songs, and brandished an image characterized by Satanic themes. After record executive Brian Slagel saw Slayer perform Iron Maiden's "Phantom of the Opera," he signed the band to his label Metal Blade. Slayer went on to release its debut studio album, "Show No Mercy," in late 1983. Although it was criticized for its low-quality production, the album became Metal Blade's bestselling release. Slayer subsequently released the EP "Haunting the Chapel" and the live album "Live Undead" in 1984. Those were followed by the studio album "Hell Awaits" in 1985. The year after that, Slayer released "Reign in Blood," which helped the band reach a more mainstream audience. Moreover, the album was highly influential in defining the thrash metal sound of the latter half of the 1980s. Slayer released its fourth studio album, "South of Heaven," in 1988.

Slayer began the 1990s with the album "Seasons in the Abyss." Next came the double live album "Decade of Aggression," released in 1991. Although heavy metal was falling out of favor during the decade, Slayer fared better than most bands of its ilk, releasing the albums "Divine Intervention," "Undisputed Attitude," and "Diabolus in Musica." The band's first album of the new millennium, "God Hates Us All," came out on September 11, 2001; it reached number 28 on the Billboard 200. Slayer's next release wasn't until 2006, with the limited-release EP "Eternal Pyre." Later that year, the band released its tenth studio album, "Christ Illusion," which debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. The album's songs "Eyes of the Insane" and "Final Six" went on to win Grammy Awards. Slayer next released "World Painted Blood" in 2009. The band's final album was 2015's "Repentless," the only one recorded without Hanneman, who had passed away two years earlier. Slayer took a farewell tour from May 2018 to November 2019, and then disbanded.

Pap Smear

Beyond Slayer, Hanneman played briefly with a hardcore punk band in 1984 called Pap Smear. He was joined by Rocky George, Joey Fuchs, and his Slayer bandmate Dave Lombardo. Although the band had many tracks and was prepared to start recording, Hanneman chose to cease Pap Smear after Slayer producer Rick Rubin warned him that the project could potentially result in the breakup of Slayer.

Style and Influences

Widely considered one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists of all time, Hanneman was known for his chaotic guitar solos and riffs, especially the ones he did with King. On the album "South of Heaven," he employed tremolo picking and down-picked notes. Hanneman's influences included such hard rock and heavy metal bands as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath, as well as such hardcore punk groups as Wasted Youth, Black Flag, and Dead Kennedys.

Nazism Controversy

Hanneman generated controversy for his interest in Nazi Germany and German military history. He developed this interest in large part because of his World War II veteran father, who gave him various medals as a child, including some taken from a dead German soldier. Hanneman's lyrics for the infamous track "Angel of Death" prompted many to accuse Slayer of being Nazi sympathizers. However, the band repeatedly denied any connection to or embrace of Nazism.

Personal Life

In 1989, Hanneman married his wife Kathryn, whom he had first met during a Slayer show in Buena Park, California in 1983. Unlike the other members of his band, he had a highly reserved personality when he wasn't performing, and rarely socialized or gave interviews.

In early 2011, Hanneman contracted a flesh-eating disease on one of his arms. It ended up getting so bad that doctors considered amputation, and at one point thought he might not survive. Although Hanneman did make it, the effects of the disease hampered his ability to play guitar, and he became severely depressed.

Death

Hanneman passed away from liver failure in early May of 2013. The official cause of death was listed as alcohol-related cirrhosis.

What is Mark Tremonti's Net Worth?

Mark Tremonti is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter who has a net worth of $16 million. Mark Tremonti is best known for being the lead guitarist in the rock bands Creed and Alter Bridge. He also fronts his solo project, Tremonti. Mark Tremonti won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 2001 for "With Arms Wide Open." He was recognized as "Guitarist of the Year" three years in a row by Guitar World magazine and is considered to be one of the greatest rock and metal guitarists in the world.

Early Life

Mark Thomas Tremonti was born on April 18, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Grosse Pointe, just outside of Detroit, in a Roman Catholic family of Italian descent. He lived there for most of his childhood before moving to Wilmette, Illinois. Mark became obsessed with music and bought his first guitar at the age of 11. At 15, his family moved to Orlando where Mark attended Lake Highland Preparatory School. He then attended Clemson University before moving back to Florida to enroll at Florida State University where he reunited with Scott Stapp, whom he had known since high school. Mark worked as a cook at Chili's while forming Creed.

Creed

Tremonti and Stapp formed Creed in 1993 and released their debut album, "My Own Prison," in 1997. The album was followed by "Human Clay," which was an eleven-time platinum record as well as a diamond record as of January 2004. It included the singles "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open." Their third studio album, "Weathered," released in 2001 and featured the hits "My Sacrifice" and "One Last Breath." Citing tension between Stapp and the other bandmates, Creed disbanded in 2004 before reuniting and releasing the album "Full Circle" in October 2009. The band went on another hiatus while the members worked on their separate projects. In July 2023, it was announced that Creed was reuniting for a "Summer of '99" cruise performance.

Alter Bridge

After the breakup of Creed, Alter Bridge was formed in 2004 by Tremonti and the other former members of Creed. They enlisted Mayfield Four lead singer Myles Kennedy and released their first album, "One Day Remains," in 2004 via Wind-up Records. The album went gold in November 2004. They followed this with "Blackbird" in October 2007 that featured their hit "Rise Today." Their third studio album, "AB III," released in October 2010, and its lead single, "Isolation," reached No. 1 on active radio and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. After a break to work on other projects, they reconvened in late 2012 to work on "Fortress," which was released in September 2013. "The Last Hero" followed in October 2016 with "Walk The Sky" coming in 2019 and "Pawns & Kings" in 2022.

Tremonti

Mark Tremonti decided to start a solo project to release music he felt didn't fit Creed or Alter Bridge and formed Tremonti. He released "All I Was" in July 2012 along with the lead single "You Waste Your Time." The band originally consisted of guitarist Eric Friedman and drummer Garrett Whitlock with Creed/Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall filling in as a touring member. Wolfgang Van Halen then replaced Marshall in September 2012. Tanner Keegan took over bass duties in 2015 after Wolfgang Van Halen left to pursue his solo career. "Cauterize" was released in 2015 and "Dust" in 2016. Their fourth studio release and concept album, "A Dying Machine," came out in June 2018, with "Marching in Time" releasing in 2021.

Personal Life and Real Estate

Tremonti and his wife Victoria Rodriguez have been married since 2002. They have two sons by the names of Austen and Pearson, and a daughter, Stella. The family currently lives in the Orlando, Florida, area.

In 2001, Tremonti purchased an undeveloped waterfront plot of land in Windermere, Florida. He proceeded to custom-build a 9,000 square-foot mansion that today is likely worth $6-8 million.

In 2008, Tremonti and his brother formed FRET12, an online musician's community, production company, and record label. Mark also has his own signature guitar with Paul Reed Smith.

Tremonti's daughter, Stella, was born with Down syndrome. Mark started promoting and supporting Down syndrome charities which led to the "Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra" project for the Take a Chance For Charity initiative.

Soundgarden released the studio albums "Ultramega OK" (1988), "Louder Than Love" (1989), "Badmotorfinger" (1991), "Superunknown" (1994), "Down on the Upside" (1996), and "King Animal" (2012), and three of those albums were certified Platinum or higher in the U.S. Thayil has also released the albums "Live from the Battle in Seattle" (2000) with No WTO Combo and "Altar" (2006) with Sunn O))) and Boris as well as self-titled albums with Probot (2004) and 3rd Secret (2022).

Tragically, Kim's longtime bandmate Chris Cornell died by suicide in May 2017.

Early Life

Kim Thayil was born Kim Anand Thayil on September 4, 1960, in Seattle, Washington. Kim's parents moved to Seattle from India. His mother, Shanti, worked as a music teacher and studied at London's Royal Academy of Music to become a concert pianist. His father, Boniface, earned a chemical engineering degree and moved the family to Chicago after he was offered a job there.

At the age of 12, Thayil began writing lyrics. In 1977, he formed the punk rock band Bozo and the Pinheads, which performed original songs as well as covers of songs by Devo, the Sex Pistols, and the Ramones. In 1980, Kim played guitar in the post-punk band Identity Crisis, and the group released the EP "Pretty Feet" that year.

Thayil attended Rich East High School, where he met Hiro Yamamoto. The two graduated from the school's Active Learning Process School in 1979. Kim and Hiro moved to Olympia, Washington, with plans to attend The Evergreen State College, but after they were unable to find work, they relocated to Seattle. There, Thayil worked as a DJ for KCMU while attending the University of Washington, where he earned a philosophy degree. After Kim and Hiro met Chris Cornell in Seattle, they formed Soundgarden together in 1984.

Career

After Soundgarden signed with Sub Pop, they released the EPs "Screaming Life" (1987) and "Fopp" (1988). They signed with SST Records in 1988, and their first full-length album, "Ultramega OK," earned a Grammy nomination. The band then signed with A&M Records and released the album "Louder Than Love" in 1989. Their 1991 album "Badmotorfinger" was certified 2× Platinum in the U.S., Platinum in Canada and New Zealand, and Gold in Australia and the U.K. "Badmotorfinger" was ranked #45 on "Guitar World" magazine's 2006 list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Albums of All Time" and #26 on "Revolver" magazine's 2002 list of "The 69 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time." The 1994 album "Superunknown" reached #1 on the charts in four countries, including the U.S., and it went 6× Platinum in the U.S., 3× Platinum in Canada, and 2× Platinum in Sweden. The album featured the singles "Spoonman," "The Day I Tried to Live," "Black Hole Sun," "My Wave," and "Fell on Black Days," and "Black Hole Sun" reached #1 on the "Billboard" Mainstream Rock chart and #2 on the "Billboard" Alternative Airplay chart and went Gold in three countries. In 2019, "Rolling Stone" ranked "Superunknown" #9 on its "50 Greatest Grunge Albums" list.

In 1996, Soundgarden released the album "Down on the Upside," which reached #1 in Australia and New Zealand and #2 on the "Billboard" 200 chart. The album was certified Platinum in four countries, and the singles "Burden in My Hand" and "Blow Up the Outside World" topped the Mainstream Rock chart. Tension over the band's creative direction led to a split in 1997, but they later reunited and released the 2012 album "King Animal." That year Thayil also lent his voice to the "Dethcamp" episode of the Adult Swim animated series "Metalocalypse." Sadly, Chris Cornell died by suicide on May 18, 2017, after Soundgarden's concert at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. After the group disbanded, the remaining members reunited for a January 2019 "Tribute to Chris Cornell" concert. In 2018, Kim played guitar on Wayne Kramer's North American tour, and in 2020, he contributed guitar solos to the Barret Martin Group song "The Firebird." In 2021, Thayil and former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron played on the Pretty Reckless song "Only Love Can Save Me Now," and Kim performed on the Mastadon album "Hushed and Grim." Thayil and Cameron formed the band 3rd Secret with Krist Novoselic, Bubba Dupree, Jillian Raye, and Jennifer Johnson in 2021, and they released a self-titled album the following year.

Personal Life

In 2021, Kim spoke to "Kerrang!" about attending the unveiling of a statue of his late friend/bandmate Chris Cornell at Seattle's Museum of Pop Culture, stating, "It was a lot of things. It was very surreal, for starters, but obviously a source of great pride to be able to honour our brother. It was awkward too, because there was a certain aspect of it that was a show, as it was a public event." Thayil added, "I miss his company and presence. I miss the collaborative inspiration he brought, too, and the team and family that we built together over the years."

Awards and Nominations

Soundgarden earned nine Grammy nominations between 1990 and 2011, winning Best Metal Performance for  "Spoonman" and Best Hard Rock Performance for "Black Hole Sun" in 1994. "Ultramega OK," "Badmotorfinger," and "Into the Void (Sealth)" also earned Best Metal Performance nominations, and "Pretty Noose" and "Black Rain" received Best Hard Rock Performance nominations. The band's other Grammy nominations were for Best Rock Song for "Black Hole Sun" and Best Rock Album for "Superunknown." "Black Hole Sun" won a Clio Award for Alternative Music Video and an MTV Video Music Award for Best Metal/Hard Rock Video, and it earned an MTV Europe Music Award nomination for Best Rock. The group also won Northwest Area Music Awards for Best Rock Group (1991), Best Metal Group (1992), and Best Metal Album for "Badmotorfinger" (1992) and received "Revolver" Music Award nominations for Comeback of the Year and Album of the Year for "King Animal" in 2013.

What is Zakk Wylde's Net Worth?

Zakk Wylde is an American musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and occasional actor who has a net worth of $14 million. Zakk Wylde is best known as the lead guitarist for rock star Ozzy Osbourne and as the founder, lead guitarist, lead singer, and songwriter of the heavy metal band Black Label Society. He was also the co-founder and lead guitarist and vocalist of the short-lived side project Pride & Glory. Additionally, Wylde has performed and recorded as a solo artist and with his Black Sabbath cover band Zakk Sabbath.

Early Life and Education

Zakk Wylde was born as Jeffrey Wielandt on January 14, 1967 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He grew up in Jackson, where he attended Jackson Memorial High School. As a teenager, he played the guitar almost nonstop, and was in the local band Stone Henge.

Ozzy Osbourne

In the late 1980s, Wylde replaced Jake E. Lee as the lead guitarist for singer Ozzy Osbourne. He soon became known for his signature black-and-white, bull's-eye-painted Gibson Les Paul Custom guitars. Wylde's first album with Osbourne was 1988's "No Rest for the Wicked." After that, he appeared on the 1990 live album "Just Say Ozzy," the 1991 studio album "No More Tears," and the 1993 live album "Live & Loud." Following 1995's "Ozzmosis," Wylde was replaced as Osbourne's lead guitarist by Joe Holmes. He returned in 2001 on the album "Down to Earth," and the year after that was on the live album "Live at Budokan." Since then, Wylde has appeared on Osbourne's albums "Black Rain" and "Patient Number 9." He also joined the Ozzy and Friends Tour in 2012, and joined Obsourne's band for select dates of Osbourne's 2017 summer tour.

Pride & Glory

During Ozzy Osbourne's 1991 tour, Wylde formed the side project Pride & Glory with White Lion members James LoMenzo and Greg D'Angelo. The band released a self-titled album in 1994 before disbanding. Pride & Glory reunited in early 1998 for a one-off reunion show at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, California.

Black Label Society

In 1998, Wylde founded the heavy metal band Black Label Society. He also serves as the band's lead guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter and producer. Black Label Society released its debut studio album, "Sonic Brew," in Japan in 1998; it came out the next year in the United States. In 2000, the band released its second album, "Stronger Than Death." That was followed in early 2001 by the live album "Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!! +5," which was recorded at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Subsequent albums included "1919 Eternal," "Hangover Music Vol. VI," "Shot to Hell," "The Song Remains Not the Same," and "Catacombs of the Black Vatican." In 2021, Black Label Society released "Doom Crew Inc."

Solo Career

Wylde released his debut solo album, "Book of Shadows," in 1996. In contrast to his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society, the album demonstrates a lighter, acoustic style of music. Wylde didn't release his second solo album, a sequel entitled "Book of Shadows II," until two decades later.

Other Projects

Since 2014, Wylde has led a Black Sabbath cover band called Zakk Sabbath. Other members of the group include Rob Nicholson and Joey Castillo. Starting in the summer of 2022, Wylde joined the reunited heavy metal band Pantera as a fill-in guitarist for the late Dimebag Darrell.

Guest Appearances

Wylde has made a number of guest appearances on albums by other artists. In 1991, he did a guitar solo on Britny Fox's album "Bite Down Hard." A few years later, he made a guest appearance on Blackfoot's "After the Reign." In the 00s, Wylde appeared on such albums as "New Found Power," by Damageplan; "No Regrets," by Dope; and "All That Remains," by Fozzy. He has also appeared on multiple solo albums by keyboardist Derek Sherinian. Among his other guest credits, Wylde contributed guitar solos to the Rippingtons' album "Built to Last" and Eric Gales's album "Good for Sumthin."

Wylde has also made myriad guest appearances during live performances. In the summer of 1993, he appeared on stage with the Allman Brothers Brand at Great Woods Amphitheatre in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Later, in 2011, Wylde appeared with Guns N' Roses on stage in Indianapolis, Indiana, where Black Label Society was the opening act. In late 2014, he appeared on the "Experience Hendrix 2014" tour alongside such artists as Eric Johnson, Buddy Guy, and Billy Cox.

Film Career

Wylde has appeared in a few films over the years. In 2001, he played the lead guitarist of a fictional band called Steel Dragon in the musical film "Rock Star," starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. Wylde had a bigger part in the 2010 film "Bones," playing the uncle of Jimmy Bennett's titular character.

What was Michael Hutchence's Net Worth?

Michael Hutchence was an Australian musician and actor who had a net worth of $1 million at the time of his death.

Michael Hutchence's wealth and estate has been a mystery in the decades after his death. Despite earning an estimated $60 million during his career (before taxes), Michael died with just $40,000 in his bank account. His total assets after being liquidated amounted to $700,000 after liabilities were subtracted. All of this remaining money was eaten up by lawyers and other various fees after his death.

What's shocking is that by most reasonable accounts, Michael should have had a minimum of $20 million worth of real estate, cash and investments. Yet he somehow died almost penniless.

In 2005, it was revealed that Michael's assets were being held by a complex series of trusts with a vague ownership structure. The trusts do not benefit Michael's parents or daughter.

Michael Hutchence was best known as the co-founder and lead singer and lyricist of the Australian rock band INXS. INXS' singles include "The One Thing", "Don't Change", "Original Sin", "I Send a Message", "What You Need", "New Sensation", and "Suicide Blonde". INXS was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2001. The band won six Australian Recording Industry Association award and has sold nearly 40 million record worldwide to date.

Michael was also a member of the short-lived band Max Q, and recorded some work as a solo artist. In late 1997, Hutchence was found dead in his Sydney hotel room from suicide.

Early Life and Education

Michael Hutchence was born on January 22, 1960 in Crows Nest, New South Wales, Australia to makeup artist Patricia Glassop and businessman Kelland Hutchence. He has a half-sister named Tina and a younger brother named Rhett. Due to the business interests of Hutchence's father, the family moved to Brisbane and later to Hong Kong. In the latter city, Hutchence went to Glenealy Junior School, Beacon Hill School, and King George V School. After returning to Sydney in 1972, he attended Davidson High School, where he met and befriended Andrew Farriss. The boys spent much of their time playing music together, with Hutchence eventually joining his friend's band Doctor Dolphin. When Hutchence was 15, his parents separated, and he subsequently lived with his mother and half-sister in California for a short time before returning to Sydney.

INXS

In 1977, Hutchence joined a new band called the Farriss Brothers, consisting of Andrew, Tim, and Jon Farriss, Garry Beers, and Kirk Pengilly. The group regularly supported the rock band Midnight Oil on the pub rock circuit. In 1979, the Farriss Brothers were renamed INXS. The following year, INXS released its self-titled debut album. Following that were 1981's "Underneath the Colours" and 1982's "Shabooh Shoobah." With its fourth studio album, 1984's "The Swing," INXS achieved its first number-one charting album in Australia. Three more consecutive number-ones followed: 1985's "Listen Like Thieves," 1987's "Kick," and 1990's "X." Particularly successful internationally was "Kick," which peaked at number three in the US and number nine in the UK; it also spawned the hit singles "New Sensation," "Never Tear Us Apart," "Devil Inside," and "Need You Tonight."

In 1992, INXS went in a different musical direction with the album "Welcome to Wherever You Are," which features sitars and a 60-piece orchestra. Notably, it was the first album by an Australian musical act to debut at number one in the UK since AC/DC's "Back in Black" in 1980. However, the album performed less well in other countries, and marked the beginning of INXS's commercial decline. Next came "Full Moon, Dirty Hearts," which was released in 1993. After a period of inactivity, INXS returned in 1997 with the album "Elegantly Wasted," the final one to include Hutchence before his death later in the year.

Max Q

During the peak of INXS's success, Hutchence formed the side project Max Q with Ollie Olsen. The two were joined by key members of Melbourne's post-punk scene, including Michael Sheridan and John Murphy. In 1989, Max Q released its only album, which was self-titled. The album contained the songs "Way of the World" and "Sometimes," both minor hits in Australia. Max Q ended up disbanding in 1990.

Solo Career

As a solo artist, Hutchence began work on a studio album in 1995. The self-titled album wasn't released until 1999, two years after his death. It peaked at number three on the Australian Albums chart.

Acting

In addition to his music, Hutchence acted in some films. He starred in the 1986 Australian film "Dogs in Space" as the drug-addled frontman of a fictional band, and contributed four songs to the film's soundtrack. The year after that, Hutchence had a brief part in the supernatural horror film "The Lost Boys." In 1990, he portrayed Romantic poet Percy Shelley in Roger Corman's "Frankenstein Unbound," based on the novel by Brian Aldiss.

Personal Life and Death

Hutchence was infamous for his many public fights and various romantic relationships. He dated such celebrities as Kylie Minogue, Belinda Carlisle, Kym Wilson, and Helene Christensen. In the mid-1990s, Hutchence began a relationship with British television presenter Paula Yates, who was then married to singer-songwriter Bob Geldorf. The affair became a major subject in the tabloids, eventually leading to Geldorf's highly publicized separation from Yates in 1995 and their ensuing custody battle over their daughters. In the summer of 1996, Hutchence had a daughter with Yates.

While on tour in late 1997 with INXS, Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room in Sydney. Over the previous days, he had been distraught about not being able to see his daughter, as the mother, Paula Yates, was entangled in a custody battle with Bob Geldorf over her other daughters and could not travel to Australia. In early 1998, an autopsy and coronial inquest revealed that Hutchence had died by suicide by hanging; he was also under the influence of alcohol and other substances.

Legacy

After Hutchence's passing, INXS continued recording and performing until 2012.

Hutchence has been the subject of a few biographical works, including the 2000 book "Just a Man: The Real Michael Hutchence," penned by his mother and half-sister, and the documentary films "Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar" and "Mystify: Michael Hutchence," released in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

What is Ray Davies' Net Worth?

Ray Davies is an English rock musician who has a net worth of $12 million. Ray Davies is best known for being a co-founder and lead singer/songwriter for the rock band The Kinks. He co-foudned the band with his brother, Dave Davies. Ray was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Kinks in 1990 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. He was also awarded the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Service to British Music, and in 2017, he was knighted for his services to the arts.

The Kinks achieved significant success thanks to well-known hits such as "You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night," "Waterloo Sunset," and "Lola." Their influence in shaping the rock genre was significant and enduring. Although the exact number of albums sold is difficult to ascertain, to date they have reportedly sold over 50 million records worldwide. Their catalog includes more than 20 studio albums. In 1990, The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

As the primary songwriter for The Kinks, Davies became known for his distinctive lyricism, often portraying British life with a mix of wit, nostalgia, and social commentary. The band achieved international fame with a string of successful albums and singles throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Their notable body of work includes "The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society" (1968), often cited as one of the most influential albums in rock history. Despite occasional tensions within the band, particularly between the Davies brothers, The Kinks remained an active and influential presence in rock music until their disbandment in 1996.

Early Life

Ray Davies was born June 21, 1944 in Fortis Green, London, England. He was the seventh of eight children born to Fred and Annie Davies, including six older sisters and younger brother Dave Davies.

Ray was an art student at Hornsey College of Art in London in 1962–1963, and in late 1962 he became increasingly interested in music. He played with a number of groups before forming The Kinks with his younger brother Dave.

The Kinks

After the Kinks landed a recording contract in early 1964, Ray emerged as the chief songwriter and leader of the band, especially after the band's breakthrough success with his song "You Really Got Me".

Ray led the Kinks through a period of musical experimentation between 1966 and 1975. Between 1976 and their break-up 20 years later, Davies and the group reverted to their earlier mainstream rock format and enjoyed a second peak of success, with other hit songs, like "Destroyer", "Come Dancing" and "Do It Again".

The Kinks disbanded in 1996.

Early Life and Education

Mike Gordon was born on June 3, 1965 in Sudbury, Massachusetts to abstract painter Marjorie and entrepreneur Robert, the founder of the New England convenience store chain Store 24. The following year, the band released "Lawn Boy" via Absolute A Go Go Records and Rough Trade Records. The album established the band's eclectic style, incorporating such genres as jazz, rock, psychedelia, and country. Subsequent Phish albums were "Rift," "Hoist," and "Billy Breathes," which brought the band to more mainstream attention. Closing out the decade, the group released "The Story of the Ghost" and "The Siket Disc." What is Tfue's Net Worth?

Tfue is an American Twitch streamer and internet personality who has a net worth of $9 million. Tfue is the online handle of Turner Tenney, a professional esports player best known for playing competitive "Fortnite." Previously, he streamed such games as "Call of Duty," "H1Z1," and "Destiny" on Twitch, and uploaded videos to YouTube. In July 2019 Tfue surpassed Ninja in terms of hours viewed in the previous three months. Tfue had 30 million hours viewed in the period, which was 6 million more than viewers spent watching Ninja. In 2023, he left both platforms to focus exclusively on his esports career.

Early Life and Education

Turner Tenney was born on January 2, 1998 in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida as the third of four siblings. His siblings include Jack, who also became a popular online gamer. When Tenney was young, his parents divorced, and he was subsequently raised by his father Richard, who had his kids sell TV antennas at flea markets. Tenney attended middle school for a week, but left because he felt it "sucked." After that, he was homeschooled. Growing up, he was passionate about action sports, winning surfing contests and competing in downhill skateboarding. He also appeared in videos made by his brother Jack and Jack's group of friends.

Twitch

In 2014, Tenney launched his Twitch channel, Tfue. He became known on Twitch for streaming various battle royale games, including "Battle Royale," "H1Z1," and, especially, "Fortnite Battle Royale"; he also streamed "Call of Duty" and "Destiny." Tenney later joined the professional esports organization FaZe Clan. He faced many controversies over the years, and earned numerous bans. In May of 2018, Tenney received a 30-day ban for allegedly using the n-word on a stream, and the next month earned a permanent account ban on his Epic Games account for allegedly selling and buying Epic Games accounts. Shortly after that, he was banned from Twitch again, this time for two weeks. Tenney amassed over 11 million followers on Twitch before he retired from streaming in 2023.

YouTube

The same year he began streaming on Twitch, Tenney launched his Tfue YouTube channel. Featuring his many streams and vlogs, the channel racked up more than 11 million subscribers and over 1.5 billion total views. In June of 2023, following nearly two months of online inactivity, Tenney announced his departure from YouTube in a new video, in tandem with his retirement from Twitch and other streaming platforms.

FaZe Clan Lawsuits

In the spring of 2019, Tenney filed a lawsuit against the professional esports organization FaZe Clan, alleging that the group pressured him to live in one of its Los Angeles homes and engage in underage drinking and illegal gambling. Moreover, he claimed the organization only gave him 20% of his revenue from branded videos on social media, and half of his revenue from touring and other appearances. FaZe Clan responded by saying it didn't take any money from Tenney's tournament winnings, and took $60,000 from his brand videos. The group went on to claim it offered Tenney several improved contracts that he repeatedly rejected or ignored. That August, FaZe Clan filed a federal lawsuit in New York against Tenney, alleging that he had violated his contract by denigrating the organization and attempting to form a rival esports group. Further, FaZe Clan alleged that he had directly leaked confidential information to the media about his contract.

Tfue Studios

In 2020, the Tenney family began working to establish a centralized hub for video game streaming, action sports, classes, and other shenanigans where both Turner and Jack Tenney would create content.
